How this paper will be taught

Edit How this paper will be taught Content

The purpose of this paper is for students to engage with creative practices that enable production of high quality, interactive multimedia installations. Students will utilise practice-related methodologies to generate materials to convert into a user-friendly project. It is expected that students reflect their own social, cultural, and political backgrounds. The paper adopts ideas and practices of the Situationist International movement to generate ideas and produce artworks that will be suitable for public exhibition.

MEDIA305 provides an opportunity for students to share their passion for photography, sound design, painting, moving image, etc. to produce two multimedia installation projects. These works should be thought-provoking, inspiring, and challenging for users.

The paper orientates projects on a specific theme, and this year students will produce work interpreting notions of the "self". It is anticipated that students use both lecture and workshop periods to experiment, collaborate and reflect upon their practices in the creation of 2x multimedia installations.

Paper Structure

The paper has 4 formal interactive sessions and weekly workshop sessions to support the development of your practice. Students will be introduced to various forms of interactive installations and methods in which to produce such works. Each week, students will be given examples of how to utilise space, blend mediums, and communicate ideas via mixed media installations.

What you’ll be doing in this paper

1) Attending sessions that will provide an opportunity for experimentation, reflection, and creativity

2) Engage with art practices from around the world

3) Develop an interactive multimedia installation
